The Legend of Black Water Ditch: Zheng Chenggong's Return to Taiwan
During the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, the chaos and warfare left the people in dire straits. Zheng Chenggong, determined to restore the Ming dynasty and overthrow the Qing, aimed to use Taiwan as a base to cross the Black Water Ditch and challenge the Dutch Governor, Kuyt, in a battle of military might and strategy. The story introduces fantastical characters such as Mazu, the Demon God, and the Wind-Ear, while a pair of secondary characters, a man and a woman, are forced to smuggle themselves to Taiwan and seek refuge with He Bin. They become acquainted with the indigenous people and Hakka communities, embarking on a journey of immigration, land development, ethnic integration, and national unity.
