Since its launch in March 2022, the VR Gallery at the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (NTMoFA VR Gallery) has focused on immersive moving image and XR-based artistic practices, running a year‑round program and curated showcases that connect Taiwanese creators with the international VR ecosystem. Equipped with nine head‑mounted displays, the NTMoFA VR Gallery welcomed over 10,000 visitors to its VR screenings and onsite experiences between April 2025 and the end of February 2026. Art‑driven in its selection, it presents works from film festivals, museums, and independent studios while engaging with questions of narrative experimentation, embodied spectatorship, and the translation of physical space into virtual environments. It also functions as a laboratory for audience development, education, and long‑term care of immersive works within a museum context, exploring how institutional frameworks can sustainably host immersive practices.
