INTRODUCTION

Unity, the world’s leading platform for creating and growing games and interactive experiences, is widely used in the development and production of games, XR, and immersive content. With the goal of introducing firsthand international industry information, creating two-way exchanges between Taiwan's industry and international benchmark enterprises, and fostering potential collaborations, the "2024 U/DAY Taiwan" event is jointly organized by the Taiwan Creative Content Agency (referred to as "TAICCA") and Unity. This event will take place on October 16, 2024, in Kaohsiung during the 2024 Taiwan Technology X Cultural Expo.

The Unity team will present the company’s latest technologies and application case studies in the "Conference"; provide opportunities for one-on-one exchanges and consultations between Unity users in Taiwan and Unity experts through "Meet the Expert" session; and provide the stage for Unity developers in Taiwan to present their ongoing projects in the "Developer Presentation.”

FRAMEWORK OF THE OPEN CALL

The "Developer Presentation" segment of the "2024 U/DAY Taiwan" will publicly solicit in-development / in-production innovative projects that use the Unity game engine. These projects should aim to establish connections with Unity and its global industry community, enhance visibility, and seek potential domestic and international collaborators. The projects should place creative content at their core, and deliver innovative and interactive proposals on narratives, creative performances, and/or interactive experiences integration of technology.

After a preliminary selection process based on written submissions, six proposals are expected to be chosen for the final selection. On the day of the "2024 U/DAY Taiwan" event, these finalists will present their proposals publicly. A selection committee, composed of representatives from Unity and the TAICAA, will choose the final "U/DAY Taiwan Special Award" winning proposal. The winner will receive passes to “Unite 2025”, Unity’s global developer conference, and slots in Unity's "On Demand Training" professional online training course.

TIMELINE

• Submission Deadline：September 27th, 2024, 23:59 local time in Taiwan (GMT+8).
• Finalist Notification：October 10th, 2024 (exact date may be adjusted based on the actual selection process).
• Finalist Presentation：October 16th, 2024. 
• Award Ceremony：October 16th, 2024.

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants Profile: 

• Applicants may be companies, foundations, associations, universities, academic research institutions, or corporation aggregates that are established and registered in accordance with the laws of Taiwan (Republic of China), or individuals who are Taiwanese (Republic of China) citizens and at least 18 years of age.

Eligible Projects:

• Using the Unity game engine for development or production, and interested in building connections with Unity and its global industry community.
• Place creative content at their core, and deliver innovative and interactive proposals on narratives, creative performances, and/or interactive experiences integration of technology. Formats and integrated technologies are not limited.
• Must be in-development or in-production projects, those with existing work-in-progress demo or materials to be shown are preferred.
• Project types are not limited to film and television, music, publishing, ACG (anime, comics, games), performance, visual arts, fashion design, or other cultural content categories.
• Projects must be produced by Taiwanese teams or co-production between Taiwan and international partners, and Taiwan shall be one of the production countries of the submitted project.

Submission Deadline：

• September 27th, 2024, 23:59 local time in Taiwan (GMT+8). The document upload time indicated by the online submission system shall be used as the official record.
