2026 Innovative Content Grant for International Co-Funding or Co-Productions is now open for application

Foreword

To promote the integration of cultural content and technological innovation, and to strengthen collaboration between Taiwan and international markets, this Program supports Taiwanese teams in co-developing innovative cultural tech projects with global partners.

 

Through co-funding or co-production models, the Program aims to foster narrative innovation, technological integration, and immersive experiences, while facilitating international market validation and global distribution opportunities.

Project Type

Proposals should be centered on creative content, integrating technology to develop innovative and interactive works, including narrative creation, artistic performances, or interactive experiences.

 

Eligible proposals may include the following:

  • Formats are not restricted and may include, but are not limited to:
    • Narrative, performance, or interactive content production
    • Cultural content developed through digital technologies, devices, or spatial environments to create new forms of user experience
    • Projects related to cultural content fields such as film and television, music, publishing, ACG (animation, comics, games), performing arts, visual arts, fashion design, or other cultural sectors
  • User experience formats are not restricted and may include: Interactive experiences, Multiplayer or networked experiences, Immersive technologies such as AR, VR, and MR, Haptic interaction, immersive sound, Hybrid or location-based experiences
  • Projects may incorporate a wide range of technologies, including but not limited to: AR, VR, MR, Game engines (Unity / Unreal), Big Data, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Sensing technologies, haptics, Object tracking and detection

Project requirements

Proposals must meet the following conditions:

  • The project must be an international co-funding or co-production between Taiwan and global partners, with Taiwan as one of the producing countries
  • Must meet at least one of the following:
    • Co-Funding: International investment accounts for 20%–70% of the total budget
    • Co-Production: International team members account for 20%–70% of the total team
  • The project must demonstrate integration of cultural content and technology with innovative value
  • Inclusion of Taiwan elements (e.g., Taiwanese creators, IP, cultural context, or technology) is preferred
  • At least 30% of the total project budget secured is preferred

Eligibility of applicants

  • Applicants must be legal entities registered in Taiwan, including: Companies, Educational institutions (universities or research institutions), Museums or cultural institutions, Foundations (excluding those funded by the Ministry of Culture), Administrative institutions (excluding those supervised by the Ministry of Culture)
  • Applicants must comply with Article 5.1 of the Guidelines and must not fall under any of the conditions listed in Article 5.2.
  • Each applicant (including joint applicants) may submit only one proposal.

Grant

  • Maximum Grant per Project: Up to NTD 5,000,000 (tax included). The actual amount will be determined by the Review Panel and announced by TAICCA.
  • Funding Ratio: The grant shall not exceed 49% of the total estimated production budget specified in the proposal.
  • Number of Projects Supported: Up to 3 projects will be selected.
  • Disbursement: The approved funding will be disbursed in two installments, with 60% of the approved amount released as the first installment and the remaining 40% released as the second installment. The disbursement schedule and required supporting documents will be specified in the contract.

Non-eligible Expenses:

The grant may not be used for the following:

  • Capital expenditures, including the purchase of machinery and equipment, operating systems, software tools, intellectual property, or any tangible or intangible assets, as well as space renovation or construction (rental of equipment is allowed)
  • Rent, space management fees, and administrative expenses

Technology Enhancement Proposal

  • This Program includes an additional Technology Enhancement Proposal, which is open exclusively to selected teams under this Program and must be submitted within three (3) months following the official selection announcement.
  • Maximum Additional Funding per Project: Up to NTD 3,000,000 (tax included)
  • Detailed information regarding application requirements and review procedures will be provided separately by TAICCA to the selected teams after the announcement of the final results of the “Innovative Content Grant for International Co-Funding and Co-Productions.”

Revenue Sharing

  • Revenue sharing is based on gross revenue (before any deductions), in proportion to TAICCA’s funding share of the total project budget, with the total recoupment capped at the amount of the grant provided.
  • The revenue calculation period covers income generated within 90 days from the first commercial transaction.
  • Applicants may enter into revenue-sharing agreements with third parties, provided such arrangements do not affect TAICCA’s entitlement, priority, or conditions.

Notification

  • Selected projects must be completed within 12 months from contract signing and submit final deliverables accordingly.
  • Commercial validation must be completed within 12 months after project completion, achieving at least one international exhibition, release, or distribution outcome.
  • A Commercial Validation Report must be submitted within 1 month after the validation period; failure to do so may result in repayment of the second installment and disqualification from future applications.
  • Applicants subject to the Act on Recusal of Public Officials Due to Conflicts of Interest must disclose relevant relationships in advance.

  • Application Period: From now until July 6, 2026, 17:00 (GMT+8)
  • How to Apply: Register and complete the application via the online application system, and upload all required documents before the deadline
  • Result Announcement (tentative): August 2026
