"Theater and I" adopts a new documentary form, trying to regain an absent historical scene. Through digital scans of once-preserved buildings, combined with 4Dview technology of cultural classics figures, digital collections of old movies, and interactive experiences, It reproduces the lost historical theaters, historical remnants and spatial stories here.
This project pays homage to the film " Cinema Paradiso " (1988) , but it has a deeper care for the disappearing historical features and the development of local space and culture, and intends to incorporate the adventurous interaction in the dramatic journey.
It reflects the transformations of the Tian Wai Tian Theater from an elite family theater to the largest domed building during the Japanese occupation, as well as the history of entertainment. Despite its demolition for a parking lot, we reconstructed its narrative through digital archives to restore cultural memories that were erased and lost during regime changes.
